Memoirs etc?

Post by Petri on 31/1/2013, 22:17

I am interested in tips regarding good memoirs and "true stories" concerning CP and security personnel.

Some that I have found interesting:

Within arms length by Dan Emmett: http://danemmett.com/

Bouncers and bodyguards: Tales from a twilight world by Robin Barratt: http://books.google.pl/books/about/Bouncers_and_Bodyguards.html?id=f-0wa1Vj9EMC&redir_esc=y

Anything else?

Petri,

Memoirs should not be written in our trade to such an extent as this.

The Bodyguard- By Roy Snell

Roy Snell has been in what he calls 'Close Protection' for over 16 years, guarding international royalty and celebrities including Madonna, George Michael, Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra.

A former SAS sniper and heavyweight boxing champion, Roy is Britain's ultimate bodyguard. Roy was trained at the Regency College in Herefordshire, where the royal protection squad is drilled. A 'Category A' bodyguard - a level that takes two years of training to reach - Roy is qualified to look after top level celebrity clients, for film stars to footballers, singers to royalty. Roy is also a skilled marksman trained in the use of the 9mm Bereta sub-machine gun and the 38 Snubnose - the standard issue weapon for the FBI.

Roy Snell has in some ways beaten the odds. From a turbulent childhood and little education. He has at times lived by the sword, although his choice of weapon were his fists. He has at times been out of control violent, a drug addict, doting father and loving husband. Emerging to a successful world of bodyguarding and personal protection, a world where his honest approach, charm and ability, had him routinely rubbing shoulders with the leading lights of the entertainment industry.

The story of his life is riveting, the writing style is simple and effective, wasting no words on anything other than the story. It is a great insight into the life of a hard man and of the bodyguards world.
